FACILITIES AND RATES 2012 - NKURINGO GORILLA CAMP

Facilities include 2 beautifully hand crafted en-suite cottages and 6 Virunga Terrace rooms. Low voltage electric lighting and paraffin lanterns provide light at night where the shared bathroom facility includes, two bush showers and two eco-toilets.

Parking for visitors with their own vehicles is provided on site.

The camp has a small restaurant where visitors will enjoy tasty wholesome meals freshly prepared. Foodstuffs are purchased locally where possible to benefit the community.

Hot water is prepared for bathing but please be aware water is a scarce commodity in Nkuringo by virtue of the camp sitting on a ridge some 700m above the Kashasha River at 2160m ASL. A 25km round trip by vehicle to the village of Rubuguri is required to collect water in order to service the camp during the dry season months. Rain water harvesting is conducted across the camp from all metallic roofs but we are unable to harvest sufficient to meet the demands of our water needs throughout the year.

By virtue of the altitude of the camp and cool evenings the presence of mosquitoes are very rare.

At Nkuringo Gorilla Camp we have an electrical generator as our power source for the provision of charging batteries for cameras and phones. The unit is run in the evenings for an hour or so. We do however recommend visitors come with an additional camera battery or a provision to charge via the DC output on their vehicle if traveling with a safari operator.

Accommodation Rates 2012

Accommodation is provided at the camp in our 6 room Virunga Terrace where toilet and bathroom facilities are shared (rooms are not en-suite). We also have two hand crafted luxury cottages with en-suite facilites. Each cottage has a private terrace with wonderful views. Child Policy

Children below 5 years are accommodated free of charge. Children between the age of 5-12 years pay half price when sharing with an adult. Children above the age of 12 are considered adults and pay full rates.
